A university project creating new illustrations for the book "Grrrimm" by Karen Duve. The book contains grimmer and darker versions of the tales by the brothers Grim. Illustrations made to the text of the story "Die Froschbraut" an interpretation of The Frog Prince.
Mock-ups of the Book cover. Since all the stories still had the casual appeal of "in the woods" but with a very mature aspect, I used a mixture of mushrooms and modern symbolic for the book cover. The illustrations are made with pen and ink to stay even with the concept inside the book, but inverted afterwards.
Three vignettes that are scattered in the Story. The first one used as initial.
As the book contains many stories, the general concept was choosing two colours for each story. Top shows a fitted image, on the bottom are the other two illustrations for the story.
